Just a quick heads up to let you know about a new project I recently started. It is about an HF WSPR Beacon transmitter with a customized Arduino Firmware which allows for scheduled beaconing following the WSJT-X Band hopping plan. For those who are interested the project homepage can be found on Github 73 Roland HB9VQQ
Thanks glad you like it. Here is a map of possible candidates who expressed their interest to host a WSPR Beacon, nothing final just yet https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/1/edit?mid=14X0GJ4vSQ7D8piZfuHDs902Y9tINuPqB&usp=sharing
There still some white Spots, like Scandinavia, Siberia, India, Russia, Japan, North Africa Pls let me know if you have any contacts in these Regions, much appreciated! 73
The first Beacon has gone live on June-28 17:02Z. The call is IU2PJI from Politecnico Milamo, Italy. Still looking to close some gaps on the Map https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/1/edit?mid=14X0GJ4vSQ7D8piZfuHDs902Y9tINuPqB&usp=sharing
So, only 2 (two) beacons planned for the whole Latin America, one in Buenos Aires and the other up away there in nordeste. Ok. If only could have left the shitcity where I'm stuck today, would have offered my spot somewhere from a wild quiet place. Ya know, Brazil is so huge took 3 weeks for useless police squads to find and eliminate a runaway psychopath, using some +130 bullets. ((been wondering if brazilhams helped there, with their «when everything miserably failed»)) Oliver
I count 4 Beacons for Latin America. We already have good coverage considering the Project start was on May-17 2021! From evaluating Beacon Hardware to writing code for the Arduino Firmware to onboarding Beacon OP candidates to rolling out the Hardware globally, etc. Don't underestimate all the work behind this. This is a one Man show from an organizational perspective. Beacon Hardware is given away for free to selected candidates. I am funding the Hardware with my own private money. Onboarding is still ongoing.
