    Harold Guretzky, K6DPZ SK

    Harold Guretzky passed away peacefully on May 28, 2020 in Staten Island, New York.

    Born January 24, 1946 in Los Angeles, California, he was the son of Joseph and Edith (Kowarsky) Guretzky. Harold, K6DPZ, had a lifelong passion for and extensive knowledge of amateur "ham" radio.

    In Los Angeles in the early 60's, he was a pioneer installing radio-telephones in automobiles of the rich and famous.

    After moving to New York, he established his "Land Air Communications" business, was known worldwide for collecting, selling and repairing vintage ham radios, and obtained several telecommunications patents.

    He also had a passion for aviation and dreamed of flying around the world.

    He is survived by his daughters, Tamara Alison Di Cocco and her husband Marc, and Nancy Lynn Grant and her husband Brian; his sister Arlene G. Cohen and her husband Stephen; his grandchildren Christian Asher and Dominic Christoff Di Cocco; his niece Natasha Kairoff and nephew Joshua David Kairoff; and his lifelong and best friend Julius Lite.

    Harold is resting in peace in Mount Richmond Cemetery on Staten Island.

    I visited him a few times at his place in Ozone Park, NY. He had a huge collection of used radios, biggest I had ever seen and also repaired radios in his shop at his house. RIP Hal.
