Nice idea! I will print this in my classroom next week. I like the idea of having no springs in the design.
Hmm, Very inventive, I have seen straight keys on the wrist but this is the first paddle on wrist I have seen.
Great video and idea. I have been looking into creating something like this, and I will certainly 3d print your creation to try it out, thank you very much! A couple of questions: Would it not be better to use a different filament such as PETG instead of PLA since most use will be outside?? Have you tested yours outdoors long enough to say for certain PLA will hold up to the weather and to the abuse from keying? 73
We're hardly flexing the PLA much, it will hold up fine. I also have PLA printed parts on the outside of my RV that have been out in the elements for more than 4 years and still show no signs of degradation.
I agree, if you print it in PLA, be a little bit mindful where you leave it. Dashboard of your car is NOT recommended. Ask me how I know
The design files are on thingiverse, link here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5690779 I just printed it with 0.2mm layers, it cane out nicely, all the parts fit together well. Only part I can't figure out is where to get an open-frame stereo phone plug that's that small! I've never seen one of those before.
These may fit the bill. 4 for 7 $USD https://www.amazon.com/Ximimark-Socket-Stereo-Connector-Headphone/dp/B07MN1RK7F Or these. https://www.amazon.com/Nine-3-5mm-Stereo-Panel-Connector/dp/B01C3RFHDC
AHA! I found the TS version of that part on Amazon, but for some reason couldn't find the TRS part. Thank you!
Yes great idea .... variation of the Straight key strapped to RO's Thigh in Air force Bombers ... ZL2SCI
