Glenn R. Geick, WA5OSA SK Glenn Geick April 6, 1944 ~ December 1, 2021 (age 77) Glenn Roy Geick of Bellville, Texas passed December 1, 2021 at home at the age of 77. Glenn was born April 6, 1944, in Panama City, Florida, where his dad was stationed at Tyndall Field. He grew up in Brenham and enjoyed hunting and fishing in the woods near his home in Washington County. By the time he graduated from Brenham High School he had earned his pilot’s license and amateur radio license. His call sign was wa5osa, or as he would say on the air “whiskey alpha 5 old san antonio”. One summer in high school he had a job with his uncle working on clearing the land for Lake Somerville. After high school, Glenn joined the Navy and was stationed at Norfolk, Virginia and Charleston, South Carolina. Assigned to the USS Semmes (DDG-18), a guided missile destroyer, he served as a radioman in Vietnam. His service travels took him into the Mediterranean as well. After discharge, he attended Texas A&M for electronics engineering. He was always passionate about his Aggie football and followed them regularly. Glenn began his career with a dictation equipment company in Houston and advanced himself to Branch Manager in Austin, then San Antonio where he was active in the Lion’s Club. He met his true love, Joeline, in San Antonio and was married April 19, 1975. After moving to Dallas and Katy, he transferred back to Houston for work that embraced his love of electronics with Motorola and SkyTel. It was a perfect fit for him where talking on his mobile radio during long night trips especially kept him company. He was called to help extensively in Louisiana and Texas during the recovery efforts from Hurricane Rita. He was especially involved with his boys’ sports, coaching their Little League baseball teams. Glenn loved the outdoors and liked taking his family on frequent camping trips. One recent special trip to him was taking Joeline and his granddaughter he raised, Trinity, on a long trip to Washington D.C., circling down the east coast to Florida before heading home. He enjoyed hunting trips to Wyoming, Colorado, south and west Texas, and the ranch in Rocksprings. Glenn scuba dived and also relished other trips taken to Mexico, the Caribbean, Japan, Taiwan, and China. He always enjoyed lake and bay fishing and was thrilled by his Alaskan fishing experience with his brother-in-law. After retiring in the Kenney woods of Bellville, Glenn liked to tinker with his ham radios and corvettes, play golf, and take motorcycle trips with his buddies across Texas. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland Geick and Erna Mae Gummelt Graham. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joeline Dittlinger Geick; sons, Ryan (Jeanne) of Katy, Jason of Bellville, Alan (Felicia) of Houston; grandchildren, Savannah, Scarlett, Trinity, Aspen, and Emory; sister, Faye DeSola (Steve) of Spring; nephews Tony and Joel; great-niece Kainoa DeSola; and aunt, Bert Geick who helped raise him. Memorial Mass: 10:00 a.m. preceded by recitation of the Rosary on Monday, December 20, 2021 at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Brenham, Tx.
