    George M. Bekech, age 95, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Irene Kochiss Bekech, passed away peacefully in his home on July 2, 2018.
    George was born in Stratford on October 27, 1922 to the late Andrew and Margaret (Voytek) Bekech and has been a life long area resident.
    He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of WW II, serving as a Staff Sergeant in the European Theatre, where he was a Nose Gunner and completed 50 missions in a B-24 Liberator aircraft. He remained a member of the 376th Bombardment Group Liberandos and the VFW-Trumbull.

    George was a retired engineer for the Bullard Company and taught at the Bridgeport Engineering Institute. He was a man of many talents; he was an avid golfer and was a member of the Tashua Knolls Senior Men's League.
    He was a licensed General Ham Radio operator for over fifty-eight years, and was past-president of the Stratford Amateur Ham Radio Club, and a member of Amateur Radio Relay League.
    At the age of 94, George found a passion for drawing of which he loved to share his pictures with friends and family.

    Survivors include his devoted children, Michael Bekech and his wife Donna of Niantic, and Irene Harrigan and her husband Brian of Lordship, his cherished granddaughter, Keri Lynn Grant and her husband Reilly of Uncasville, 3 great-grandchildren, Reilynn, Zachariah, and Hailie, and several nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his beloved wife and parents, George was pre-deceased by his brothers, John, Andrew, William and Robert Bekech and sisters, Frances Murcko and Mary O'Grady.

    The Bekech Family would like to thank all of George's caregivers including Vitas Hospice but especially, his dear friend, Erika Baranovicova, for her kind and loving care.

    Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 6th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10:00 a.m. in St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church Trumbull with the celebration of a Divine Liturgy.
    Interment with full military honors will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford.

    Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Panachida will be at 4:30 p.m.
