    Special FT-8 event starting 03/09/2020

On monday, 9th we will start an experimental event: How long does it take to get the DXCC in FT8?

Today, more than 80% of the QSOs are made by FT8 operators. Our goal is to get the DXCC in a shortest possible time.

We have to stick to these conditions:

    • The operators of DR4K may not use Cluster, FT8-monitoring etc.
    • No fox/hound, only regular FT8
    • DR4K must call CQ
    • output is limited to 50 wtts

We will try to work on 80/40/30/17/15/12 m as much as we can. .

As soon as we have reached our goal, the experiment is immediately over! After that you probably will never reach DR4K in FT8 again!

All QSOs will be confirmed with a special event-QSL.

QSL via Clublog,LOTW, QRZ.COM, eQSL also guaranteed.

Start will be monday, march 9 at 6:00 UTC. We would be happy to have as many great connections from all over the world.

Special FT-8 event cancelled until further notice.

After receiving almost 100 requests for skeds in the last 24 hours, it was decided with a heavy heart to cancel the test with DR4K.

The intention is to explore how quickly one can reach a goal with a small station and a modern operating mode. We didn't expect that an announcement posted on Friday, would cause a real hype so quickly.

On the one hand, the enthusiasm of the interested radio amateurs is a sign of a lively hobby; on the other hand, the parameters for the test have already been disturbed in such a way that one should not expect a valid result.

So the test will be carried out at a later date without prior notice and will only be communicated afterwards. We are sure that the decision taken is in line with the spirit of our experimental radio service.

73 and thank you for your interest!

So basically this was a troll post by people who hate digital modes?

    Well, I don't think so.
DR4K is on the air since 13th and worked 1456 QSOs and 89 DXCC so far.
Try to catch us, we are on 30 meters right now. :)

    We got it!
On Saturday, 21th we finished the 100 DXCC with 2020 QSOs.

This took 7 days, 7,5 hours (18 hous break) with a small station with 50 wtts and longwire-antenna.

We will publish more detailed statistics in the next few days. First of all, we are happy to have reached the goal. Many thanks to all the HAMS who have worked with us over the last days. You have helped us to reach this goal.

But what can already be said now: You can have different opinions about FT8, but the DXCC is always a milestone that has to be worked out. Every HAM can be proud if he has reached this goal, no matter in which mode of operation!

No matter which mode you use, enjoy your hobby and make the best out of it, it is a great hobby!

The special event QSLs will be sent out via office in the next few weeks, the ADIF-Files will be uploaded to Clublog, LotW and eQSL in the next days.

    73,
