Modems give us the ability to modulate and demodulate signals on analog circuits like plain old telephone service (POTS) and analog radio. FLDIGI is a free application that works on many different platforms that provides many different modems and other important features for digital communication. We show just a little bit about how the application works, to encourage those who haven't yet made use of it to give it a try. We'll use this as foundation for some followup presentation of other applications in the suite as well as operating tips to make it work better in practice.
