I just learned of the passing of Erik earlier this year. He mentored me and helped me get my novice license over 50 years ago. As teens we had many good times and I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to reconnect with him after moving back into the New Orleans area. Rest in peace Erik.... Erik B. Schwarz, K5SND SK September 18, 1947 - February 13, 2017 COVINGTON, LA Erik B. Schwarz, 69, unexpectedly passed away on February 13. Erik attended Ecole Classique High School & University of New Orleans receiving a degree in Psychology. He was the bass guitarist & keyboard player for The Paper Steamboat, a popular 60's band. Being a father was his greatest passion, a job that came very easy to him because he loved it dearly. He was a man of few words who was kind, patient, and soft-spoken. Erik developed custom computer systems for companies including 7-up & Dixie Beer. Then, he served St. Tammany Parish for 17 years as the application programmer. Erik was preceded in death by father, Frederic Schwarz & mother, Elizabeth Bittenbring Schwarz of New Orleans. Erik is survived by his daughters Erika Schwarz Wright (Johnny) & Sheryl Zylicz Logue; his grandchildren Johnny & Gabrielle Wright, Lauren & Mason; his former wife, Patricia Schwarz Core; his siblings Elizabeth Schwarz Goodgion (Anthony) of Belle Chase, Frederic Schwarz (Peggy) of Braithwaite & Caecilie Schwarz. Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Service at 3:00 PM on March 3, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1 North Marigold Drive, Covington.
