Ed Lively, K7ERL (formerly known as KC7VOK), died a few months ago and after noticing that no one had posted anything about his death, I decided I would do so. Ed was great friend and was always happy to chat with me via Echolink as he shared his knowledge of amateur radio. Ed had a condition known as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). COPD is a term that refers to someone with both Bronchitis and Emphysema. I am not completely sure if this was the cause of his death, but considering it is one of the top preventable forms of death in the United States, I'd say it's safe to guess so.

Ed was ham since April of 1997, shortly after he had to quit his job because of his lung condition in February of 1996 (the month and year of my birth).

My condolences and prayers go out to his family.

I have left a few links below for you to find out more information about Ed.

In the words of Edward R. Lively (K7ERL): "Take care of yourself and have a long and healthy life."

    Mike,
I actually just saw his call in the SK page of the Feb issue of QST :( I talked with him via echolink several times since licensed in 2009 and I share in your sense of loss. Ed was a great man with a generous spirit and he will be sorely missed. I also wish to extend my condolences to Ed's family.
