Today, Icom released updated firmware, version 1.10, for the Icom IC-7610. Unfortunately, this update contains a defect: the packets that convey spectrum data are missing the header required by the CI-V protocol. As a result, the Spectrum-Waterfall windows maintained by Win4IcomSuite, RumLog, N1MM Logger+, Icom Panadapter, and DXLab are inoperative.

Icom has been notified; hopefully, they will quickly issue updated firmware with the defect corrected. Until then, we recommend that users who rely on the Spectrum-Waterfall window remain with firmware version 1.06. If you've already upgraded to version 1.10, you can revert to version 1.06.

It seems to be the norm that most firmware breaks something.

It is hard to fix hardware problems with software alone.

Sometimes it is best to leave it alone.

    Have Fun.

In this case, the defect causes the CI-V message that reports scope data to be sent without the two-byte preamble required by the CI-V bus specification. It's hard to imagine this being the result of anything other than an unintentional edit followed by a poor Quality Assurance process. Simply "diffing" (running an application that detects and highlights differences) the new firmware version with the previous firmware version would have exposed this change.

As the old saying goes " IF IT AINT BROKE, WHY FIX IT "

I guess it is fixed now.

Version 1.11 seems available with the newest bugs.
