Col. Gordon Ziegler K6QJY silent key

These comments were written by Lt. Allen Merriman who was a close friend of Gordon, K6QJY. He was Allen's first commander in the Civil Air Patrol - USAF Auxiliary at the Travis AFB. Gordon lived in Lafayette, California and passed away Thursday while on a short vacation at Furnace Creek Ranch. He told me how anxious he was to see the desert wildflowers in the early Spring with his lovely wife so I substituted for him as Net Control. He was the cornerstone of our nightly radio traffic broadcasts and the Northern California Yosemite VHF Net will miss "Yosemite 844" dearly.
