    Clyde Elmer Epps
    October 21, 1921 - January 15, 2019
    Clyde Elmer Epps, 97, of McAlester, died January 15, 2019 in McAlester at a local nursing center.


    A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at Hugh Low Cemetery near Scipio with Masonic Services provided by McAlester Lodge #9.


    Clyde was born to Joe and Nora (Franklin) Epps on October 21, 1921 in Scipio. He grew up in the Scipio area.


    He served in the European, African, Middle Eastern Theatre as a tank driver with Company “A” 191st Tank Battalion, US Army during World War II from February 1943 until August of 1944. Clyde was a purple heart recipient for wounds received in action on February 11, 1944 in Italy. He also was awarded the Bronze Star for participation in the Italian Campaign.


    Clyde married Wilma (Walters) Epps, and she preceded him in death in 2006. They lived in California where Clyde worked as a heavy equipment operator building roads, bridges, and dams. He then became an electronics repair technician and repaired televisions, radios, and computers.


    Clyde had been a Mason for sixty-nine years, eight months and twenty-eight days, having been initiated an Entered Apprentice, passed the degree of Fellowcraft, and earned the sublime degree of Master Mason in 1949. He was a member of the McAlester Masonic Lodge #9 and was a Shriner. He was also a Ham Radio Operator.


    Clyde married Sue (Weddle) Molina on November 28, 2008 in McAlester.


    Clyde was preceded in death by his parents: Joe and Nora Epps; wife: Wilma Epps in 2006; and sisters: Mary, Beverly, and Joann.


    Survivors include his wife: Sue Epps of the home; daughter: Sheila Anderson and husband, Lundy of Tahlequah; step-daughters: Gwendolyn Kaiser and husband, Don of McAlester, Marcine Edson and husband, Skip of California; grandchildren: Tanya Nelson of Georgia, Marty Anderson of California.


    Also great-grandchildren: Heather, Jason, Cameo, Kyle, Jessica, Brie, and Zach; five great-great-grandchildren; sister: Cleta Burden of California; sister-in-law: Lois Kannady of McAlester; cousins: Di, Connie, and Sally; and step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
