Well i certainly do not hate F Calls as u put it but i feel that the entry level is a joke what was wrong with
the novice exam minus that evil called Morse Code too hard to learn it seems for many.
an exam which allows a 6 year old to pass it and operate equipment capable of causing QRM if not used properly is a farce i taught many Novice classes and supported the novice licence 110% along with the late Rex Black and others true there were whingers but they soon accepted the Novice structure.
This Foundation licence was an attempt by the Institute to bolster it's falling membership and nothing else,so yesll i am a two letter call and have for decades i was given it as a teen now i am 70 years old active for over 50 years i did not wait for a two letter call holder to be a silent key then buy his or hers two letter call do not try to exaggerate the 2 letter call master race that died in September 1945.

Well VK4FJJJ....What do u mean by oldies step aside allow some sunlight in???.
Yes i am all for new thought 100% only if it benefits the majority involved in this once wonderful hobby which thanks to the Institute has been degraded to nothing more than a new CB frequency viz 80 and 40 Metres .
All one hears is idle chatter about cooking how to BBQ fish swearing callsigns no longer mentioned as for unscrewing the lid on ur 7300 fair enough not all people would attempt to fiddle inside a modern rig say 2010 onwards, need for specialised gear to repa",ir this stuff is extremely costly so i understand that.
But nothing should stop u from making ur own antennas or tuners even simple test gear but this side of the hobby is dying nothing more annoys me than hearing ï am running xyz to a big star dipole via a big star atu no excuse to not build these simple items and learn as for social aspects of the hobby great but tell me what are the healthy aspects of the hobby i cannot see any now for a longtime it's become no better than the old 27 meg band were most of the drones have come from on 40Mt.
I am proud to be an oldie vintage Amateur i am proud that i helped many young people and oldie as well get their Novice and Advanced licence i am proud i was involved in classes teaching people who really worked hard to get on air not like now with this farce of a exam that a 6 yr old can pass u want a 100watts then a 1000watts were will it stop earn it if u want it dont expect others to do ur for 10watts i ran a Midland 13892 cb rig
23 channel that i converted from 27 megs to 28 megs 10 watts sideband a home brew 5/8 helical mobile worked more than 30 countries so if i did it an oldie why dont u newbies try it and learn something i think not u have bought ur 27 meg habits to 40 metres.
VK2OZ.......60 years on air with this callsign.
