    CEPT annual radio interference statistics

The CEPT has made available the annual radio interference statistics for 2013-2017 based on submissions by national regulators, including Ofcom

Ofcom's report to CEPT shows that in 2017 there were 99 cases of Interference to the Amateur and Amateur-Satellite Services formally reported to Ofcom:
    - 49 caused by non-radio devices such as electrical appliances
    - 50 were from other radio users

These are likely to be a small fraction of interference Amateur Radio operators endure as most suffer in silence rather than submitting an online report on the problem. Interference can be reported via

It is notable that Ofcom found there weren't any cases of radio amateurs causing interference to other services.

Could it be possible when using digital modes, interference may be harmless than SSB for example?? My wife does not bother me with the plasma TV on 20m when doing FT8..... But what a mess when I am doing SSB!!

There's a very easy solution to reduce interference from PLASMA TV'S ….. It's called, TAKING A HAMMER TO IT...

Thankfully, LED TVs are getting very inexpensive. Even the large ones.

    Dear Ham Radio,

We see many glorious years of HF interference in your future, thanks to our lovely devices.
Our long term objective is to drive you out of the HF spectrum, because you are a nuisance to our profits.
We are capturing your spectrum through creeping normality and a death by a thousand cuts.

We will add your science and technological distinctiveness to our own.
Your culture will adapt to service us.
    Resistance is futile."

My next-door neighbour had 13 solar panels installed, complete with an inverter which totally wipes out the 20m band at my QTH with S9+ noise.
The installer who supplied and fitted the inverter promptly went bust and ceased trading.

I managed to get Ofcom to attend. They confirmed that the interference far exceeds acceptable limits, but they said there was nothing they could do about it because the supplier had gone out of business. They closed the case and will take no further action. So it seems I am stuck with it for life, unless I sell up and move QTH.

Maybe a unfornate accident might occur, like a 12 guage shotgun accidently discharging and destroying everything.
