Love it - Ham / Farmer ingenuity at its best!! Maybe it’s time for a new activity - Fields On The Air FOTA Lots of Farms with big open Fields make for very quiet noise levels to operate ham radio! Keep up the great work! Farmer Joe in PA W3JBS
But the antennas have to be fabricated from farm implements. None of this "ideal dipole" nonsense. If you can't load up a tractor and a plow, you don't get to play. Chris
pretty cool... thats keeping up with the old saying... For every dollar you spend on Amateur Radio, spend 99 cents on the antenna
TNX for the QSO. I contrast your two grain wagons with my home brew 5 foot loop antenna. It fits in a 3 ft x 3 ft space and gets transported in a duffle bag. The rig is a FTdx-10. It has an excellent front end to pull POTA and other QRP stations like yours out of the mud. It seems like both of our stations worked well on October 15. I had 227 QSOs on 20 m that afternoon. This was not our first contact. We worked during another POTA activation towards the end of August. Always glad to hear you on the air! Next, you could try two side-by-side crank up towers? Crank them to resonance like a Stepper IR. 73, Andy WA3LTJ
Kevin you just blowing me away every time you taking a ride out in the Fields with a fully charged Battery and HF-Radio aboard. Keep up the good Work, mad Scientist. 73 de Your Friend Uncle Günter ♂️
That was a good video. Having the tuner create a 1 to 1 match is fine, but where was the 'antenna' actually resonant? I wonder what the radiation pattern looked like. Certainly worked. Cute cat by the way...
