ARRL North Texas Ham of the Year for 2023. WB5NZV Gerald Marchant of the Denton County Amateur Radio club was awarded HOY by NTX region director Steve Lott-Smith in the March meeting. Gerald is considered by many to be the Godfather of the Denton County Club. He is extremely active as an officer in the club and committed to Denton County emergency management as a constant volunteer for everything from radios, tower trailers, and search & rescue.

 

Congratulations Gerald! Always working hard for the community and radio and it's always a pleasure to work with you. Thanks for having all the answers. lol

I have known Gerald for going on 30 years. He is an excellent example of a mentor in our hobby and provided me needed support during my time as the Denton County ARES EC. He deserves this award for all he had done in the north Texas area over the years.
