Anyone heard from Robert Botik, K5SIV lately? Haven't talked or gotten emails from him in a year. I know he had health problems 2 years ago, so I'm worried that he's sick or worse, dead?! I hope not! Anyway, he lives in Austin, Texas. We're good buddies on HF and email, and Echolink. I've emailed him, but got no email back. I've looked for him on the web, all outdated info. Has anyone heard Bob, K5SIV on the air lately? Thanks. 73, Nathan KCØLCS

I know what happened to Bob. Here's a portion of an email from a friend of K5SIV's:
"As for your question about Bob, K5SIV, he is not well. Back around February he came down with a bad case of pneumonia. He was in the hospital for over 3 months and ended up with a tracheotomy and on a respiratory. Once clear of the pneumonia and off the respiratory, he was so weak that he is now in a physical rehab center.

Bob is slowly making progress but is still very weak. He is having to re-learn how to do almost everything physically. He is getting to where he can talk again, he is practising is hand writing, and is now learning to walk again with the aid of a walker.

As of now, he is not able to take phone calls nor do email. He is hoping to be able to soon get around to trying some email. Right now, he hopes to be well enough to get home by sometime in August.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad new, but, we nearly lost Bob. Thankfully it looks like he will make it. He is slowly improving but it will take some time."

For anyone curious about Bob, there's your answer. Please keep him in your thoughts, because we want our fellow ham to get better. 73 from Bob's friend, Nathan KCØLCS
