MILLVILLE, NJ: An Amateur Radio Exposition (AmExpo) will be a new element added
to the Wheels & Wings Millville Airshow 2004 on Saturday and Sunday, May 1 and 2,
2004, at the Millville Airport. AmExpo will feature live broadcasts between ham radio
operators, world wide web communications, a
technical display center, and even a Part 15 short range
radio broadcast within the confines of the airport
that will allow airshow spectators to listen to the
airshow announcer via the FM radio band
throughout both airshow days from 9am to 5pm.
“We are delighted to introduce radio
communications as a new technological aspect of
the Millville Airshow,” remarked Hugh McElroy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of
the Millville Army Air Field Museum. “It allows us to present our airshow to people
around the world! We anticipate this exhibit will also be the largest amateur radio event in
    the region this year.”
The event call sign “N2M” (November-Two-Millville) has been approved by the ARRL
(American Radio Relay League) exclusively for Millville’s AmExpo. A temporary radio
communications exhibit will be established at Millville Airport with the help of the
Amateur Radio Service that will demonstrate both vintage and modern radio equipment.
AmExpo debuts at Millville Airshow 2004
AmExpo control operators will conduct emergency preparedness exercises and
provide introductory training on a variety of communications-related subjects. Amsat,
which is the Amateur Satellite Communications organization headquartered near
Washington, DC, will also exhibit and be on hand to help honor the advancement of
communications technology that has been placed in earth’s orbit and beyond. Voice-Over
Internet protocol will be featured to demonstrate the technology cross-over between radio
and computer science using programs such as “Echolink” and “EQSO.”
Recognizing a significant historic link, the Museum has focused AmExpo to
commemorate the advancement of radio communications conducted at Millville Airport
during WWII. The US 22nd Communications Command was bivouacked at the Millville
Army Air Field, which was our nation’s first defense air field established in 1941.
US Armed Forces worked hand-in-hand with our allies to advance communications
technology and radar support that proved to be a critical factor in the success of our
    military operations.
“AmExpo is a unique event that is appealing to all ages, both amateur and non-amateur,”
notes McElroy. “Contacts will be made around the world from Millville’s AmExpo to
compliment the excellent airshow performances both in the air and on the ground. The
Millville Army Air Field Museum anticipates as many as 150,000 visitors will come to
enjoy this spectacular weekend airshow event.”
Admission to AmExpo is free to all who attend the Wheels & Wings Millville Airshow.
For more information about AmExpo visit the Museum’s website at

Come join us at the special event for the whole family. Be with us as we call "November-Two-Millville" to the heavens and beyond!
