Amateur Radio will be featured on Wednesday's edition of WFAE's "Charlotte Talks" with Mike Collins.  The show airs on WFAE in Charlotte, 90.7MHz July 19 from 9am to 10am.  The show is simulcast on WFHE in Hickory at 90.3MHz and will be repeated on both stations Wednesday night at 7pm.

The show can also be heard on the Internet at www.wfae.org.

If you want to call into the show with comments or questions, call 704-926-9323.  It would be great if we could really light up the phones at WFAE!

Participating in the panel will be the following:

Mike Everette, WA4DLF will be discussing the work of Reginald Fessenden, who was first to develop a method for sending voice over radio.  Much of Fessenden's experimental work was done in North Carolina.  The year 2006 is the 100th anniversary of the first voice broadcast.

Tim Slay, N4IB, ARRL Section Manager will discuss amateur radio activity today, particularly in disaster preparedness and emergency communications.

Hamilton Hicks, KB4BR from Wilimington, NC -- former mayor of Wilmington who led the city through two hurricanes, will discuss amateur radio's role in emergency preparedness.

John White, WB2NHQ, Station Manager at Discovery Place will discuss amateur radio's role in education.

Roger Burt, N4ZC, will discuss the "magic" of talking to people all over the world via ham radio, as well as amateur radio's role in promoting international goodwill.
