Wow. It does not always take a lot for a tower to come down. I witnessed a tower fall about 10 years ago as an LEO responding on a grass fire near a broadcast directional array situated near a river. The fire, although relatively small, apparently became hot enough to damage one of the guy anchors and when it failed, it sounded like a shotgun blast and the tower collapsed, falling in my direction missing me (by the grace of God) by about 25 feet. I learned (quickly) from that point not to stand within the fall radius of any tower that may be in jeopardy of collapse by weather, repairs, fire, etc.
The Truman article was quite interesting. You can visit his "Little White House" in Key West, which has a very good tour. The furniture looked just like what my parents had in the '50s. I liked his desk with the famous plaque saying, "The Buck Stops Here". (Facing him on the other side it said, "I'm From Missouri.")
