This is the official announcement for the 1st Annual 24th of July Pioneer Day Celebration Special Event station!

The Dixie Amateur Radio Club located in St. George, UT is pleased to announce that the inaugural special event station for the 1st Annual 24th of July Pioneer Day Celebration will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 for twenty four hours starting at 06:00 UTC. This year's call sign is W2P.

The 24th of July Pioneer Day Celebration is a state wide celebration for Utah commemorating the arrival of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly known as the Mormons) Pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley region of Utah. The members of the pioneer parties ranged in age, ethnicity, and country of origin, as they made the journey from Nauvoo, Illinois across the plains to the deserts of the west escaping religious persecution. Since 1847, the settlers of Utah (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints AND other intrepid explorers and settlers) built up the communities of the west and served as outposts for others travelling west to seek their fortune and establish a better future for themselves.

While the 24th of July in Utah is specifically designated to celebrate those early pioneers that settled the Salt Lake Valley, this special event station is dedicated to all those whose pioneering spirit have contributed to our society and culture. Please join us in this celebration of innovation and exploration by making contact with us!

All participants will receive an eQSL card (via eQSL manager eQSL.cc). Participants that would like the accompanying Certificate of Participation can email darcactivities@gmail.com with your name and call sign and we will send you the certificate via email. Please refer to DXSummit for spots and please spot us as you find us. Examples of the eQSL card and certificate are attached.

73! And we look forward to hearing from you!
