Every year the Girl Scouts of the Philippines SHARES and the Philippine Amateur Radio Association Inc., in order to promote amateur radio to the members of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, sponsor the International Friendship and DX Contest or INFEX. This event is held every 3rd Saturday of February close to the celebration of the World Thinking Day, which is held on the birthday of Lord and Mrs. Baden Powell, which is on the 22nd of February. Amateur Radio operators and amateur radio clubs, sponsor and train a girl scout troop of scouts to participate. The program is composed of the opening ceremony that is broadcasted on 7.095 MHz, followed by freeplay QSOs on the HF and VHF bands when the scouts are supervised in their QSOs by the amateurs. Starting at 1200 local, till 1700 the contest portion is held. A troop of 8 scouts try to get as many QSOs as they can. Points are awarded to QSOs with DX, club and individual station contacts. Categories in power and type of stations used are established for awards purposes. Amateurs and their clubs usually conduct training months prior to the events. The Boy Scouts have a similar, though internationally held, event every October called the Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) and Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI).
