VSWR is one of those topics which is often difficult to understand. At Electronics Notes, we have produced a video which we hope provides an easy visual explanation of what is actually happening. The video describes the fact that for maximum power transfer a load must match the feeder impedance. It also tells what happens when there is an open or short circuit. Using these two extremes, the video then describes what happens when a mismatch occurs - this can be either an impedance either lower or higher than that of the feeder. The video also describes the major calculations and the results of having a high VSWR. The video can be seen here:
