Just a shout out for an old friend and elmer Jerry Ashman WD8OXB. He's been gone now for over 20 years but I still think of him from time to time because he taught me so much. Radio, car repair, and more. At the time he was 20 years my senior and having been without my own Father he was a blessing to me. He would always follow up most anything he said with "thats just my opinion." Did you know him? 73 Steven N8SMG
Yes, I did. I miss Jerry. Met him and his son once. Miss his repeater too. 73, Charles K8CPA Ex-KB8HHZ, N8MCY, N8QXP
Yep, I sure did. One of my first contacts and ended up a great friend. I ended up working with him and got to meet him just before he past. He walked in and I thought, "Who ever makes this guy mad is in serious trouble." Then he said, "Hi, I'm Jerry." "Who?" "WD8OXB" (of course he did it phonetically in that way that only he did). When I was a net control Op. he was always my first check in. I pick up a mic and I hear, Ocean X-ray Bravo 73, Todd (ex-N8WSB)
No, but I know how important he must have been to you having grown up myself without a dad. Thanks for keeping his memory alive. Steve
