    Sorry to announce that Fred Veth, WB2YTA went silent Key on Wednesday, Sept. 12th, 2007. He was 64.

    Fred was a graduate of Middletown Township High School in 1961, and attended Monmouth University, Long Branch, both in New Jersey.

    He was last employed as a truck driver by Shaffer Trucking Co., Palmyra, where he worked for six years, retiring in 2005. Before that, he was employed by Kawneer Inc., Bloomsburg, as an electrician for 15 years.

    He served with the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1964.

    Fred was a ham radio operator belonging to Rooster Net 3990. He also served as an EMA volunteer for Columbia County as well as being a gourmet cook at the Columbia-Montour ARC Field Day events.

    His favorite pastime was fishing with his grandchildren.

    He will be sorely missed.
