On November 26, 1997 John Llopes became a silent key. John was a wonderful influence to amateurs, old and young. He helped many new young hams with limited funds start their stations, often building transmitters, antenna tuners and other accessories. John was always available to lend an ear and help solve a problem. I was a young ham of 14 when I met John in the late '50's. He helped me along with a lot of my fellow hams. Although John is now gone, I will always remember him for his sage advice. When I am confronted with a challenge in solving an electronic mystery, I say to myself, what would John do. Thanks for people like W3GJF that give so much of themselves.
