DXCC honor roll member Sam Brown, WA4IUM passed away last week at the age of 59.

He was a TV journalist and anchorman for Knoxville stations WATE and WKXT (later WVLT) and also news reporter for radio station WNOX before moving into the private sector and instructor at the University of Tennessee School of Journalism. He was a 4-time Edward R. Murrow award winner.

He also worked for TV stations in Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Nashville, but always came back to Knoxville.

He was an avid ham, very involved with the East Tennessee community, and was pivotal in getting the UT radio club's antenna on top of Neyland Stadium.

    He will be missed.
