Robert J. Hallenbeck, N2ZDY SK SK June 6, 2015 LATHAM Robert John Hallenbeck, 88, died peacefully Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Hudson Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albany. Born in Albany, on January 27, 1927, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth Delehanty Hallenbeck. Mr. Hallenbeck was raised and educated in Albany and moved to Latham 55 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed for many years as a salesman by the Harris Corporation selling radio equipment and towers before retiring. He was referred to from fellow colleagues as the "Prince of Salesman." Bob was also a ham radio operator with the call letters N2ZDY. He treasured his time spent with his grandson, Tyler, and also enjoyed working on gas powered engines. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Community Hospice of Albany for the compassionate care given to Bob. He is the beloved husband of Doris Jean Ruopp Hallenbeck; loving father of Steven T. (Cathy) Hallenbeck of California, Phyllis D. Hallenbeck of Latham and the late Gregory R. Hallenbeck; proud grandfather of Skyler and Tyler Hallenbeck; brother of Joseph (Merry) Hallenbeck of Guilderland and the late Lawrence Hallenbeck. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham, and at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Latham, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Family and close friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, prior to the Mass from 9:30-10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
