These guidelines are for those who seek to have their news and announcements appear on the QRZ home page.

First, note that home page articles are now curated by a QRZ editor. This means that we go in and pick the items which are newsworthy and/or of sufficient public interest to play on the home page. This means that not all articles in the Ham Radio News section will appear on the front page. In order to have your article considered for headline publication, it must meet the following criteria:

    • The article must have a graphic (photo, illustration, logo, etc.). In rare cases, we may choose a stock graphic if we believe the content of the article meets the general interest requirement. We will generally use the first photo in your article but may choose a different one if we deem it appropriate. Video's posted on YouTube include a lead-in photo which we will usually use when the primary content of the article is a video.

    • Articles which consist of primarily a video or link to another website where the bulk of the story is located must also include a brief summary of what the story is about. We won't put "one liner's", e.g. "http://youtube.com/kkdfjsdfk" into the front page feed. You must describe what it is that you're asking the reader to check out. In general, one or two sentences is fine for the lead-in intro.

    • Articles that appear on the front page as "tiles" are curated (chosen) from the available articles in the Ham Radio News forum as well as from other topic areas where interest is high. Not all articles in the Ham Radio News forum will be selected for inclusion on the front page. To improve the chances of your article making the front page, make sure that it is well written, informative, newsworthy, and above all, has a compelling picture or logo. Regularly scheduled bulletins from clubs, organizations, and individual publishers may use a logo slide instead of a new picture each week. Great pictures improve reader interest and click-through rates and so a topical, poignant photo is always recommended.

    • Finally, you may write to the QRZ editors for advice on article content by contacting editor@qrz.com. We always appreciate hearing from writers and we're here to help you get your message out.
