Another ham related Popular Science (PS) story -- March 15 PS (page 74) has a cool story and picture about school kids building fractal antennas. Fractal antennas were created with ham radio: see 'Fractal Antenna Part 1' (Comm Quarterly Summer 1995, p. 7-22) http://www.popsci.com/learn-defy-cable-company-diy-hdtv-antenna 73, Chip W1YW
http://www.popsci.com/learn-defy-cable-company-diy-hdtv-antenna Fractal antennas a great !! Have made a few of these - they work very well for such a small antenna - Intrucables site has a great tutorial on how to make them. Wish someone would design one for 2 meters and 440 Mhz so I could make some more... Love to browse through the old PopSci mags - A lot of 'makers' were around back then with great ideas, but they just called it DIY then.
