    First Worry Later".

3W, VIETNAM. Wolfgang, DL5MAE, is once again active as 3W2MAE from Mui
Ne between February 19-25th . Activity will be on 20-10 meters using
CW and SSB. QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the Bureau.

3Y0Z BOUVET NEWS (Team Member Update). On February 12th, it was reported
on the 3Y0Z Web page <http://www.bouvetdx.org>: We regret that Jorge,
HK1R, will not be able to join us on the Bouvet DXpedition. Jorge was
with many of us on the Malpelo DXpedition and the Amsterdam Island DX-
pedition. We will miss him greatly on the upcoming Bouvet trip. Hopefully
Jorge will be able to join us on another adventure in the future. We look
forward to that and thank him for his help thus far.
Harumi Kukita “Hal,” JR4OZR, will be taking Jorge's place on the team.
Hal has past DXpedition experience and is a well know and competitive
contest operator. We welcome him to our team.

4M, VENEZUELA. Julio, YV1KK, will be active as 4M1K during the ARRL Inter-
national DX CW Contest (February 18-19th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (??)
    entry. QSL via OH0XX.

A3, TONGA (Rare IOTA/Update). Masa, JA0RQV, will once again be active
from Tonga. This time he will activate Niuafo'ou Island (OC-123) as
A35JP/P between March 22-28th [He was originally schedule to go between
September 28th and October 4th, 2016, but had to postpone]. It has been
7 years since last activation of A33A (by K6HFA). OC-123 is currently
claimed by 17.9% of participants based on IOTA Web site (as of 17th
February 2017). Operations will be on 40-6 meters using CW and SSB. His
equipment is an IC-7300 (w/100W) into a vertical antenna. QSL via his
home callsign, by the Bureau, direct (SASE w/1 IRC), LoTW or ClubLog.

AAW. The Worldwide Antarctic Program's (WAP) 14th Antarctic Activity Week
(AAW) will take place between February 20-26th. The real purpose of the
event is to foster interest in the Antarctic region/continent and its
matters. Look for special event stations world-wide to be available for
you to work. Each has its own super special QSL card available. Check
<www.waponline.it> for the list of stations, QSL routes and attractive
awards. As of press time, there were 37 stations listed to be on the air.
To commemorate the 14th International Antarctic Week, a very Special
Award will be issued to all Radio Amateurs worldwide who contact a number
of special event stations that will be active on the HF bands. The Special
Diploma will be sent free of charge in PDF format to all participants
that fulfill the required number of contacts on each category. For more
information on the AAW, see: http://www.waponline.it

AH2, GUAM. Operators Toshinobu/JI3ERV and Mikawa/JR7OMD will be active
as AH2R during the ARRL International DX CW Contest (February 18-19th)
as a Multi-2 entry. QSL via LoTW.

C6, BAHAMAS. Drew, N2RFA, is once again active as C6ABB from Cable Beach,
Nassau, Providence Island (NA-001, WLOTA 1115), until February 23rd.
Activity will be on 75/40/20/17/12/10 meters. He plans to operate on some
of the Digital modes (JT65, PSK31, RTTY and possibly SSTV). QSL via his
home callsign, direct or LoTW and also eQSL.

    C6, BAHAMAS (IOTA Op). Operators John/M0IDA, Rob/M0VFC and Steve/M1ACB
hope to be active as C6APY from Little Harbour Cay, Berry Islands (NA-054,
WW Locator FL15do). They will fly into the Bahamas on March 2nd, but it
will take them a couple of days to get to the island, so they hope to be
active around March 4th - but this is very much weather dependent, as is
the whole operation. They will fly back to the UK on March 12th, which
means they will need to de-rig on the 10th or 11th, again varying according
to the weather. Operation probably won't be 24/7 - they will do as much
operating as they can, but eating and sleeping is back on the boat, there's
only three of them, and they will probably want to go for the occasional
swim as well. They will be running up to three stations simultaneously,
all Elecraft K3s at 100W. They will be generator powered and have to carry
the full week's fuel with them on the boat, hence no amps. They are
expecting that most QSOs will be on 40-15 meters; they will monitor the
higher HF bands as well and may venture on to 10/12m if propagation favors
them; similarly they may throw up an 80m dipole, but don't expect to do
very much, if anything, there. There will definitely be CW (op M0VFC) and
SSB (ops M0IDA and M1ACB); they may also do some data if time permits.
They should be active on some satellite passes with hand-held antennas:
the FM birds will only cover parts of the USA, and not EU, so they will
attempt some FO-29 passes as well. They are not satellite experts though,
so be patient with them. QSL is via M0OXO's OQRS system. They will upload
the logs to ClubLog and LoTW regularly throughout the trip, assuming all
the kit plays nicely. Watch Twitter for any other updates:
    https://twitter.com/rmc47 (M0VFC)
    https://twitter.com/ItinerantHam (M0IDA)

CE, CHILE. Members of the Radio Club de Chile will be active as CE3AA
from Santiago during the ARRL International DX CW Contest (February
    18-19th). Operators mentioned are Julio/CE3OP, Danilo/XQ4CW and Willy/
CE3KHZ (Team Leader). The support group for the operation (they will also
    participate): Patricio/CE3PBT, Cristian/CA3BKN and Luis/CE3BMI. The
group has many experienced operators in competitions, island activation
and DX operation. They will be in the contest as a Multi-Op/Single-TX/
    High-Power entry. QSL via CE3AA.

CQ NEWS RELEASE. Rich, W2VU, sent out the following press release on
February 15th [edited]: CQ to Introduce MF/LF Column; John Langridge,
KB5NJD/WG2XIQ, to be Column Editor -- As ham radio operators in the United
States await final FCC action to open new amateur bands at 630 meters
(472-479 kHz) and 2200 meters (135.7 kHz - 137.8 kHz), CQ magazine is
getting a head-start by introducing a column that will help interested
hams get ready to "hit the ground running" once the FCC issues its final
rules. The new column - to be titled "MF/LF Operating: Life Below the AM
Broadcast Band" - will appear quarterly, starting in the April 2017 issue,
and will be edited by John Langridge, KB5NJD/WG2XIQ.
Licensed as a high school student in 1989, John's interest in "life
below the AM broadcast band" extends back even further, when, at age 11,
he read an article in Radio-Electronics magazine about the unlicensed
1750-meter band (160-190 kHz). He had to content himself with operating
on 160 meters until the opportunity arose in 2012 to join the ranks of
Part 5 experimental stations authorized by the FCC to conduct propagation
research in preparation for the new medium frequency (MF) and low frequency
(LF) bands at 630 and 2200 meters respectively. He was granted a con-
struction permit and station license for WG2XIQ and maintains a regular
schedule of beacon transmissions and two-way contacts on 630 meters. He also
shares tips and posts a "grabber," or bandscope view, of 472 kHz (which
updates every 5 minutes) on his website at <http://njdtechnologies.net/>.
In his column, John says he plans to cover a variety of topics, including
station building, propagation, news events affecting LF/MF, and operating
strategies. "My goal," he says, "is to market the bands to people who know
nothing about them." The title of his inaugural column in the April issue
is "Ham Radio Below 500 kHz: What is All of This About and Where Should I
    Start?"
Professionally, John is a consultant in broadcast engineering and infor-
mation technology, working for a variety of clients. He has a degree in
physical chemistry and is currently working toward his Ph.D. in that field.
John and his wife, Paula, KD5YHI, live with their pets in the Dallas, Texas,
suburbs. John's column will appear in the January, April, July and October
    issues of CQ.
"We are looking forward to sharing John's knowledge and experience with
our readers," says CQ Editor Rich Moseson, W2VU. "CQ has always been a
leader in promoting new bands and modes, and in helping hams use and enjoy
them. We are already seeing a growing interest in our soon-to-come MF and
LF bands and John's column will be here to help our readers get active on
them as soon as they become available for general use."

FM/TO7, MARTINIQUE. Dimitry, UT5UGR, is once again active as FM/UT5UGR
from Martinique (NA-107). Look for him to sign TO7A during the ARRL Inter-
national DX CW Contest (February 18-19th) as a Single-Op/High-Power entry.
QSL via UT5UGR. See UT5UGR and TO7A listing at QRZ.com for log search
    and OQRS QSL request.

HC, ECAUDOR. Bill, W0OR, will be active as HC1WBT (not HC1WDT as in the
past) from Cotacachi during the ARRL International DX CW Contest (February
18-19th) as a Single-Op/Low-Power entry. QSL via W0OR. Bill reports,
"In the past 3 or 4 years my temp call in Ecuador has been HC1WDT. But
this year they assigned the call HC1WBT. May have been a clerical error,
but for now the suffix is WBT not WDT."

INDIAN OCEAN 6M EME DXPEDITIONS (Update). Lance, W7GJ, will once again
be active from the Indian Ocean to focus on 6 meters EME QSOs. This time
Lance is planning a 6 Meter EME DXpedition (for the first time) to West
Island/Cocos Island as VK9CGJ between September 12-28th, and Christmas
Island as VK9XGJ between October 2-18th. All airline tickets have been
purchased, and lodging reservations have been made. He informs OPDX this
week of the following: "In order to get the word out as soon as possible,
preliminary information on the upcoming 6m EME DXpedition is here:
    http://www.bigskyspaces.com/w7gj/Indian Ocean 2017.htm
With the great increase in people capable of using digital modes, I
hope to be able to provide these rare DXCC entities to many serious 6m
DXers. Please check back for updated information! GL and VY 73, Lance"

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE <http://www.bandconditions.com>:
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

S2, BANGLADESH. Juris, YL2GM, will lead a team of operators to be active
as S21GM and S21KW from Bangladesh between March 15-27th. The S21GM call-
sign will be used in the first half of their DXpedition, and S21KW during
the second half. This is caused by the specifics of the regulations in
Bangladesh, and not because they want more duplicated QSOs in the log.
They state, "Please do not attempt to make QSOs with both of these call-
signs on the same bands and modes. Please treat both callsigns as one,
thus giving other fellow HAMs better chance to make their QSO with us,
potentially All Time New One (ATNO)." Operators mentioned are Juris/YL2GM,
    Valery/YL3CW, Jack/YL2KA, Kaspars/YL3AIW, Dmitry/UT7UJ, Oleg/US7UX,
    Sasha/UT7UV, Andrey/UX1UF, Syed/S21ED, Anup/S21TV and possibly two other
operators. Activity will be on 160-10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY.
    Suggested frequencies are:
    CW - 1826.5/1821, 3526, 7019, 10119, 14029, 18086, 21029, 24904 and 28029
    SSB - 3795, 7100, 14190, 18140, 21290, 24940 and 28490
    RTTY - 3583, 7043, 10136, 14083, 18103, 21083, 24923 and 28083 kHz
    QSX CW up 2 (160m dwn 2, JA 1810 - 1820).
    QSX SSB/RTTY up 5.

QSL via YL2GN, direct, by the Bureau, ClubLog's OQRS (for direct or
Bureau) or E-mail requests via <yl2gn@lral.lv>. A full LoTW upload will

V2, ANTIGUA. Bill, KG4ZXN, will be active as V21XN from Antigua Island
(NA-100) sometime in July. Activity is as follows per Bill: "This is a
holiday style activation to Antigua. I will be located in the southeast
end of the island. My priorities for the trip are my wife, cigars, rum,
sun shine and some radio. Not always in that order and sometimes all
together.... As for actual operating plan, I will be attempting multiple
bands and modes. If you hear me on CW understand that this is a new mode
to me and I am going to make mistakes. I will be on in the early hours
of the morning while the XYL enjoys sleeping in and in the evenings,
provided the rum punch has not taken its toll. Other times will be on
a whim. Equipment will be primarily a FT857D, and a YouKits HB1B for
some QRP CW work is also making the trip, with an end feed or Buddistick
depending where my room is." QSL via his home callsign, direct, eQSL, QRZ

be limited to her spare time on 80-10 meters using SSB, RTTY and PSK31.
She is there working on a project for the Informatici Senza Frontiere
    ONLUS. QSL via IK3GES.

ZA, ALBANIA. Operators Kees/PE1KL, Lennart/PD5LKM and YL Lisa/PA2LS will
be active as ZA/PA2LS from Albania between March 22-29th. Activity will
