2017 RST SPECIAL EVENT (Just A Reminder!). Members of the North Country

Nunavut and Greenland using all NCDXA “RST” fixed station calls KL7RST,
VY1RST, VE8RST, VY0RST and OX7RST, to further promote Amateur Radio in
northern North America. For more details, please refer to OPDX.1283:

3B8, MAURITIUS. Paul, G8AFC, will be active as 3B8HE from Mauritius Island
(AF-049) between February 1st and April 5th. Activity will be on 40-6
meters. QSL via his home callsign.

3X, REPUBLIC OF GUINEA (IOTA Op). Operators Alain/F5OZC and Sébastien/F8DQZ

be on 40-10 meters using mainly CW. QSL via F5OZC. Look for more details
    to be forthcoming.

3Y0 BOUVET ISLAND ISSUED LICENSES. Tom, LA4LN, the Norwegian Radio Relay
League (NRRL) HF Traffic Manager, informed OPDX the following in an E-mail:
    Dear DX friends,
There has been some confusion about what amateur radio calls have
been licensed for use from the Bouvet Island (2nd Most Wanted DXCC
Entity; IOTA AN-002) for the year to come.
The Norwegian Communications Authority informs me that the following
licenses are valid as of 25 January 2017:
    3Y0G Granted to ON4WW, valid from 1 January 2017 to 30 April 2017.
    3Y0Z Granted to LA6VM, valid from 1 December 2017 to 30 April 2018.
    3Y0H Granted to RA9USU, valid from 1 January 2018 to 28 February 2018.
    3Y0I Granted to 3Z9DX, valid from 13 January 2017 to 31 December 2017.

EDITOR'S NOTE: So far the 3Y0Z operation is the only DXpedition scheduled
to hit the airwaves sometime in early 2018. <http://www.bouvetdx.org/>

5A, LIBYA. OPDX was informed that Abubaker, 5A1AL, has reported the
following [edited]: "...the situation here is bad and we still have hope
that it will get better but no signs for such a hope till now. Yes, I am
still using 5A1AL, but I live in very limited space so my signal is not
that good. I am using base loaded vertical antenna so no space for dipoles,
beside that I have high level noise and I guess propagation is also not
that good. We can try to set up a sked on the bands, of course if we have
electricity here. We are suffering from power outage; most times we are
without electricity for 8-9 hours/very bad during the cold winter."

    5K0, SAN ANDRES (Update). Operators Tim/LW9EOC, Will/AA4NC and Ron/AA4VK
will be on San Andres between February 13th and March 29th, and will be
active as 5J0NA. Activity will be on 160-6 meters and including 60 meters
and possibly 2 meters. Modes will be CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL via LW9EOC,
ClubLog or LoTW. The trio will also be active in the ARRL International
DX CW, CQ 160m, ARRL International DX SSB, Russian DX and CQWW WPX SSB
    Contests.

9G, GHANA. Members of "Six G Team" will be active as 9G5X from Sweet
Mother Eco Resort, Aburi, about 30km north of Accra, in the Akwapim
Mountain area (around 400m ASL), Ghana, between March 7-21st. Activity
will be on 160-10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. Operators mentioned are
    Bob/5B4AGN, Alan/G3XAQ, Steve/G3VMW, Fred/G4BWP, Neil/G6MC and Iain/M0PCB.
QSL via M0OXO, ClubLog's OQRS or LoTW. Visit their new Web page at:
    http://www.ossett.net/9G5X/index.html

9M0, SPRATLY ISLANDS. Hrane, YT1AD, will lead a international team on a
DXpedition to the Spratly Island (Malaysian part). Operators mentioned

callsign 9M0W. Their team will include several amateurs from Kota Konibalu.

    coming.

CW Contest (February 18-19th) as Multi-Single entry. Raúl states, "The
main goal will be to give the chance to operate to unexperienced operators
in order to prepare them for future Las Tunas Contest Crew (T48K) oper-
    ations."

E5, NORTH COOK ISLANDS (IOTA Op). DX-World reports that Andy, E51AND,
will be traveling to Nassau Atoll (OC-098) and possibly operate on February
1-3rd. He will arrive at Nassau on Tuesday/Wednesday as part of a team
to assess the damage to "MV Moana Nui" grounded on the reef at Nassau
on January 27th. The primary focus will be the assessment of the vessel,
but he hopes to operate during his spare time and in the evenings between
0500-0900z) on whichever bands are open. He is taking a Yaesu FT857D, LDG
tuner and a 43 ft vertical that he hopes to mount in or near the lagoon. He
is limited to 75 – 100watts SSB and QRS CW (very basic station). Log will
be uploaded to LoTW, ClubLog and QRZ.com after his return around February
11th. There is no InterNet on the island. ADDED NOTE: He is attempting to
secure the callsign E51AD or E51AN for this North Cooks operation to
distinguish it (and future N. Cooks operations) from his regular South
    Cooks activities.

from the Rarotonga Islands (OC-013, WAZ-32), will be there at least

18-19th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry, the CQWW 160m SSB Contest (February
24-26th) as a Single-Op/High-Power entry, the ARRL International DX SSB
Contest (March 4-5th) and possibly (but not sure yet) CQWW WPX DX SSB
Contest (March 25-26th). QSL via his home callsign. Confirmation is not
a problem across all OQRS's and the information can be found on:
    http://QRZ.com/lookup/E51DWC

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE <http://www.bandconditions.com>:
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.
