Due to the increased interest in new (perhaps not so new !) methods of reception and transmission, I think that certain topics should be included in your forum. These can either be grouped in one subject or under different subjects. May I suggest :

    Phasing DC Receivers and transmitters.
Tayloe, H mode and switching mixers.
    Quadrature RF phasing techniques.
    SDR Radios.
    SI570 PIC controlled VFO.
    DDS VFO.

    Hi Paul,

One of the tests we use to determine new forum boards is the number of topics that appear in other boards. If there are a reasonable number of posts (e.g., several dozen posts in a couple months) it bears taking a look at what the potential of a dedicated forum might be.

What we have tried to do is organize interests into broader based categories--Antennas, Audio, older gear, etcetera. This gives us a pretty good viewership along the spectrum of the category--and does not fracture things to the point that new posts are not seen and discussed. If instead we broke Antennas up into horizontal, vertical, beams, etcetera--we would negate the purpose of an antenna forum by creating too much distraction--and likely not enough interested parties. Familiarity creates broader interest.

We had that going in our ham software category--there were over a dozen different distinct boards. Needless to say, MOST of the posts for a lot of the applications never received commentary. When we combined them all and left just two main boards--our participation doubled and every question received answers or comments.

You have cited some very specialized--but important--facets of technical practice and knowledge. At this time, there are very few postings concerning them, certainly not enough to fragment things out. Let's hope that this changes in the future--and we can revisit the idea of some new boards.
