Jose R. Franco, N2GRQ SK Jose Franco May 14, 1942 - November 11, 2019 Jose Ramon Franco, 77, affectionately known as “Papi” made his journey to his heavenly home on November 11, 2019. Papi was born May 14, 1942 in Santiago, Dominican Republic to Augusto Franco and Maria Cruz Papi came to the United States in 1961 to live in New York City where he met and married his soulmate, Teresita Franco, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage, raised three children Augusto, Ricardo and Josephine and welcomed five grandchildren Antonio, Alyia, Benicio, Victoria and Gavin. Papi, drove a yellow cab in New York City during the late 70s and most part of the 80s. He retired from the Buena Vista Palace in Orlando, Florida after 17 years in shipping and receiving. One of his favorite pass time was communicating with people all over the world. Papi was a licensed HAM Radio Operator and he used this hobby to not only stay connected to friends, but to help others in natural disasters. Papi believed in God, he was proud to be an American and he loved his family unconditionally. He was known for his radiant smile, his tendered heart, A true gentleman in every sense of the word.
