My heart sank to the floor. It's disconcerting to hear about anyone being injured (not electrocuted, or they would be deceased!) taking down an antenna. It sounds from the news report like they will be OK. It is normal to watch people for heart problems by keeping them in the hospital. Let's hope that's all it is, just observation, and they are OK!!

    Please keep us informed.

Until they are dead, they have not been electrocuted! Geeezzz.......

I'm very sorry to hear that, too. I hope they recover.
However, I just wanted to point out - your title is wrong - electrocuted means you are DEAD!

While they may not have adequately safe-guarded the site from hazards- it seems a bit much to imply they were "careless". I'm pretty sure that's
    not exactly what you meant.

I don't think anything that went on was the result of a 'contest'... the same could have happened setting up for any relief efforts or real world emergency in which hams were needed. How callous.

    It happens..

    My prayers are with them...
    We are all human.

As a former firefighter and emt, I can tell you that no matter how much you know, we all have times where we come up upon an unforeseen circumstance or simply have a momentary lapse in judgment at the wrong time. Most of us are quite lucky when this happens and we come out of it ok.. Some of us are simply not so lucky...

Those who are without sin, please cast the first stone.. otherwise simply wish these guys a speedy recovery....

First off I was very sorry to hear about this accident and wish both ham's a speedy recovery.
I 'am really PO'ed when one of our fellow ham's used this accident to vent his anti contest views. Jack, Field Day is what a person wants it to be, it has never been billed as a contest and never will be. I think what you are trying to do with this thread should get you banned from QRZ. In fact if I really think you should take your ham license and send it back to the FCC as there is no place for your negivitive attitude in our brouther hood. Venting you anti contest attitude in light of what has happend to two fellow ham's is about as low a shot as I have seen in 40 year of ham radio. For you spell checkers out there sorry if anything is not correct but I am just seeing RED at this point!

KE5CO is being released from the hospital. AD5IP is in fair condition. Both are from the Wichita County area.
