After a three year hiatus on-line due to COVID-19 restrictions, the yearly Ham Radio University educational conference in New York returned as an in-person gathering for its 25th anniversary on January 6, 2024.

Some 200 area hams converged on the campus of LIU Post college in Brookville, Long Island to attend presentations by experts in a broad range of Amateur Radio activities including: Building an HF station, Basics of HF Operating; Contesting and DXing; Communicating Through Amateur Radio Satellites; Software Defined Radios; Digital Communications; Parks on the Air; Learning and Using Morse Code; Antennas; Using RaspberryPi Computers in Amateur Radio; and HAMSCI and the Upcoming Solar Eclipse.

The event also included a week-long operation of special event station W2HRU.

Founded by Phil Lewis, N2MUN, who passed away in March, 2020, HRU also served as the annual convention of the ARRL New York City - Long Island Section, with a nearly a dozen local clubs participating with displays and information in the event's Club Room, and NLI Section Manager Jim Mezey, W2KFV using the opportunity to present HRU Chairman Tom Carrubba, KA2D with a plaque recognizing HRU's 25 years of service to the Amateur Radio Community.
