The Raytown Amateur Radio Club (KØGQ - Missouri), was going through their normal "Field Day" ritual when the local FOX TV station showed up unannounced with their remote truck to record some of the activity.

Barb Rich KGØUT, President of the club, was called on to describe what was happening. Take a look at these two video's and see if you don't agree she described the details perfectly!

Awesome coverage. The club should be very proud of how they represented Ham Radio in this. :D

WOW what great coverage!!! High fives and kudos to the Raytown club! Also have to give FOX a tip of the hat for making time for this story! The ARRL should use this story as a guide for others!!!

WOW! You couldn't get any better advertising for our hobby - even if you had to pay for it! I'm in the TV "biz", and I have to say that Barb & John were very well spoken advocates. And to top it off, they got Kim the reporter to call out a CQ. Great thinking, and great TV! JOB WELL DONE!

    GREAT job by all involved!!!!

Barb, KG0UT, is an outstanding ambassador for amateur radio, and the folks at FOX 4 deserve major credit for committing to actually covering Field Day, not just giving it a quick clip with a too-short sound bite. I worked K0GQ Saturday night in CW on AO-7 - I provided the satellite station for our combined two-club effort here in northeast Georgia. We operated as W4G. It was great to work you on the best satellite of them all! Let's do it again next year! 73 to all, Tim - N3TL - EM84ha

    That was Great!

Literally got the shivers & chills watching the cool coverage of Field Day in those two videos. That was all First Class! And how often do we see media coverage of amateur radio that gets it mostly wrong? Too often, but not this time. My hat is off to those who spoke so well about ham radio, and also to Kim Byrnes, who did a fantastic job of accurately pulling it all together for her viewers.

    Way To Go

I wish our club could have gotten this kind of coverage.

All I Can Say Is Thanks!

I've seen lots of news coverage in the past, mostly good coverage, but never before have I seen a major news network devote hours of expensive SAT time to covering Ham radio activities to this extent. Hats off to Fox 4 News In KC and Kim the on-site reporter. She seemed to have the right attitude for the job. Straight forward and concise so that the average citizen could understand it. And she even got behind the mike to boot! KUDOs also to the Boy Scouts for holding their event on site. I'm sure this was repeated around the U.S. with other clubs. This club is the "T" in teamwork. I wonder how many other such clubs around the states are this good also and just don't get the support of their news networks. Judging by how crowded the bands were, I'am sure several hundred. Thanks for representing us as a whole so well! Nice job to whoever put the one video together with the interview of Steve/K0OU. He had to of been up all day and still had the energetic attitude of a coach in the first quarter. Thanks to all Hams who supported Field Day Activities.

Excellent coverage, excellent work by K0GQ. This one needs to be part of a ham's "boot camp".

This is super! We (Leavenworth, KS) did have the deputy mayor stop by but no news coverage, Kansas City did however but it was only a short blurb. Kudos for a super job!!!!! 73 de AL KCØMCE
