Centenary, first direct contact, Wales - Australia, 1918 - 2018

This weekend sees GB2VK, operated by the Dragon Amateur Radio Club in Wales, marking the centenary of the first direct, non-relay contact between the UK and Australia on 22nd September, 1918.

The special event transmissions will take place from the very same building the 1918 signals were sent, at Cefn Du, about 1000 feet (300m) up a hillside near Caernarfon, Wales.

The event will use most modes, so look out for them over the weekend!
