I've used a buddies 705, & my $50 TinySA hooked up to my homemade RX loop. Both have gotten it done. I fully agree with the last part.
Any AM radio can work for locating interference. When I was a kid I had a pocket transistor radio. Because of the ferrite loop, it was quite directional. While it's not professional or test equipment grade, it worked for what it was. As a kid in New Jersey there were all sorts of fun stuff to listen to on AM radio. Then I got a shortwave radio and found even more stuff to listen to. I do miss the CB days of the 1970s and the comraderie of the people I met there. That little transistor radio was my very first radio and I have many fond memories.
