A friend of mine on the Tug Hill Plateau (just north of Syracuse and just south of Watertown NY) has what they call a sail plane (or glider, and asked me if I would like to go for a ride in it. I thought it the perfect opertunity to take my VX-5 with me and see who I could contact with it. Some of you could imagine what it was like. The coverage was amazing. I had some 10 repeaters in my grasps and about 20 contacts. I know I should have used simplex but I didn't seem to have a problem w/ hitting more then one repeater it seemed like the closest or more powerful one won. I am probably going to do it again w/in the week. I just thought I would throw this story in...
