630 Meters Ground Wave Evaluation Network 630m GWEN

Will call CQ 474.0 khz tomorrow 930AM 1330z.

 

CQ 474.5 kHz CW from around 1330z to 1350z this morning... I will be listening omni on main position, NE/SW loop on 2nd RX. I will likely get started a bit earlier but should definitely be QRV by 1330z.

 

Signal was heard briefly at 1327z, following a CQ here. It was strong enough that I could hear the beginning of my call sign without headphones while listening omni but like last week, it faded into the noise like someone reach over and turned the power down to nothing. Ill need to review the recording, which I did not start until the moment the signal began, but there should be something there at the beginning.

Same routine tomorrow morning. I'll begin recording at the start of the session this time, however.

ATTN HF OPS: Please note KR8L had a good signal from N9RU at a distance of 34.6 mi using an Airspy YouLoop antenna with an Airspy HF+ Discovery SDR. KR8L then switched to an FTdx10 and Butternut HF9V vertical and recorded a very good copy of N9RU. If you are within 50 mi of any transmitting station, please listen and report. You may be able to copy, particularly if you have a vertically polarized antenna or dipole configured as a Marconi. If you do not hear anyone, please report that as well. ALL REPORTS MATTER. TNX.
