I have been monitoring the 60 meter ham band for several months now and have yet to hear any activity.
does anybody use it at all?

Not sure what the fuss over allowing new modes was all about as I only occasionally hear anything during intermittent listening.

The vast majority of the activity is on "channel 5", where the Brits have an allocation.

Is anybody able to be out there............

The answer is a qualified 'YES'.

However, when one considers its 'secondary' allocation status along with a constrained 'channelised' operation at very low power; we hams might best leave it to the sea based commercial radar interests that so covet the 5mHz region.......

If everyone is "monitoring" or "listening", you're never likely to hear anything, are you?
