I do not believe MFJ is shutting down. It is up for sale and open for business right now.

It won't happen. The real estate required to maintain a manufacturing and warehousing operation like MFJ is too expensive.

Lucky I got a MFJ-1026! Nothing quite like it from anyone else...

Very sorry to hear it, MFJ will be missed. This certainly cuts down on the size of QST each month. 73, John

They can move it to a different location or a place like HRO or Gigaparts can take over.

IMO, that’s not a wise choice. As it is, buying an Ameritron amp is a crapshoot whether or not you get a ‘good one’. With them shutting down, do you think the employees building your proposed amp really care if they do a good job? Plus, they’re not inexpensive anymore. Best you save a few hundred $$ more and buy a quality amp from a reputable manufacturer that’s still in business, and avoid future aggravation.

Just my opinion, but good luck with your choice!

You don’t believe an official letter from Martin Jue? What will convince you?

The last MFJ product I bought was a pair of bias-tees a couple of months ago. Over the years I've acquired an assortment of MFJ stuff. Their little switching 13.8V switching power supplies are FB. I have a MFJ-259B I bought 25 years ago that's still gets regular use. I have a AL-800H amp that I haven's used in many years. A lot of their products come from the many companies they acquired over the years. It's a pretty big loss, IMO.

With MFJ gone, what will QST do for ad revenue?

That's the bigger problem, it isn't just MFJ. Those sister companies are highly valuable, as well. A lot of unique and useful products are going to be pulled off the market, potentially forever. A huge blow.

Ameritron amps, all these antennas that are going to be pulled off the market, and the cheap and effective MFJ manual tuners that work and can be had at very reasonable prices. The real loss to operators hasn't even sunk in yet.

More of a wide, gaping hole left in the market than a divot.

    A shame.
only owned 2 antenna tuners from MFJ (962D & 949E)
no issues with either, both working fine 20yrs and 12yrs later.
73 to you K5FLU, enjoy your retirement.
