    Obituary for Dr. Rayland Joseph Beurlot Jr.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Dr. Ray Beurlot at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at St. Rita Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Craig Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.
    Visitation will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022, at St. Rita from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
    Rayland Joseph Beurlot, Jr. 86 of Alexandria, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at his residence.
    Ray is preceded in death by his parents Rayland Joseph Beurlot Sr. and Dorothy Cappel Beurlot, and his
    brother-in-law Robert Loren Blotner, Sr. along with a host of Aunts and Uncles.

    Ray was born on October 8, 1935, in Houston, Texas. When he was 13, his family relocated to
    Alexandria. He attended and graduated from Bolton High School in 1953 where he was a member of the
    Band. On December 21, 1959, he married Charlene Cecile Soileau. He attended Louisiana State
    University and Louisiana State University Medical School of New Orleans, graduating in 1960. Upon graduating Medical School, he completed an Internship in Oklahoma before serving in the United States Air Force at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. After serving his Active Duty, Ray returned to Louisiana, completing his Orthopedic Residency in New Orleans before returning to Alexandria and entering into Orthopedic Practice with Dr. Daniel Kingsley in 1967. In 1980, Ray established his own practice in the Cabrini Doctors’ Building where he remained until his retirement in August of 1994. During his 30-year career, Ray was a member of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Mid America Orthopedic Association, Louisiana Orthopedic Association, Rapides Parish Medical Society, serving as President in 1988, and the Louisiana State Medical Society. Ray staffed both Rapides Regional Medical Center and St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, teaching at Tulane University Medical School, and Huey P. Long Memorial Medical Center. Ray served on the Cabrini Hospital Board and as Chief of the Medical Staff at Cabrini Hospital. Ray loved horses, especially his beloved Del Brisa, and his many hobbies included hunting, fly fishing, flying, skeet shooting, ham radio, traveling extensively in his motorhome after retirement, and spending time with his grandchildren, friends and family. Ray loved tailgating at LSU Football games and celebrated their National Championship as a student in 1959, and their recent National Championships.

    Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Charlene Cecile Soileau Beurlot; his
    children Dr. Rayland Kevin Beurlot (Kelly), Charlene Monique Beurlot Auzenne (Stacy), and Dr. Michelle Renee Beurlot; his grandchildren Lauren Elaine Beurlot, Christopher James Auzenne (Lana), Kyle Rayland
    Beurlot, and Jennifer Anne Auzenne; his sister Diane Beurlot Blotner; one niece Dorothy Noelle Blotner
    Tobey (Scott) and two nephews Robert Loren Blotner, Jr. and Michael Edward Blotner (Jodie) and
    numerous great nieces and nephews.

    Pallbearers honored to serve will be Dr. Rayland Kevin Beurlot, Stacy Christopher Auzenne, Christopher
    James Auzenne, Kyle Rayland Beurlot, Robert Loren Blotner, Jr. and Michael Edward Blotner.
    Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Lisso Nachman, Pete Wiltz, Myron Wellan and Michael Kearney.
    Memorials in Ray’s memory can be made to Shriners Children’s Shreveport, 3100 Samford Ave, Shreveport, LA 71103; and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
