    SOUTH BEND - Milford Glenn Billhimer, 101, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully at 1:30 pm Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in his home. He was born January 5, 1917 in Miami County, IN to the late Glenn D. and Anna Glee (Shively) Billhimer, and remained a lifelong area resident.

    Milford served his country honorably in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked at Bendix Corporation for 32+ years before retiring as a supervisor in July 1977.

    On May 31, 1941 in South Bend, Milford married the former Mary Jane Ullery, who survives. In addition to his loving wife of 76 years, he is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Lamar) Locke of Mishawaka; son, Glen (Dianna) Billhimer of South Bend; four grandchildren, Mark Bacsa of Colorado Springs, CO, Tim Bacsa of Indianapolis, IN, Jeff (Kaycee) Billhimer of South Bend, and Amy Billhimer, also of South Bend; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Amber Billhimer, both of South Bend. Additionally, he is survived by sisters, Betty Uceney and Wilma Doll, both of Plymouth. He was preceded in death by another sister, Elizabeth Arlene Hartman.

    Milford was a member of the Center Twp. Fire Department from 1946-1972. He was also a member of the St. Joe Valley Flying Club, where his amateur radio call sign was NY9G.

    Graveside services and military rites for Milford will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Southlawn Cemetery, 61300 US 31 South, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-8:00 pm Monday, April 16 in the Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, as well as 10:00-11:00 am Tuesday, April 17 in the funeral home, prior to graveside services.
