Garrett C. Holt, 17, of Longmeadow, passed away on Friday evening, April 26, 2024, at Baystate Medical Center, peacefully surrounded by his parents and sister. Garrett was born in Springfield on July 30, 2006, the son of John D. and Gail (Weiderman) Holt of Longmeadow. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his sister Rilee Holt of Longmeadow, his maternal grandmother Meridith Weiderman and the late Nelson Weiderman and he leaves his paternal grandmother Ann Marie Holt of Springfield. He is also survived by Uncles Mark and Garth, Aunt Kelly, Cousins Grant, Cole, Jackson, Maya and Leo. Garrett also leaves his dog Chester and numerous friends.

Garrett Connor Holt lived his 17 years with curiosity, courage and compassion.

Garrett entered the world with impatience and lived an early childhood that was boisterous in play and headstrong in actions. He was fiercely independent and intellectually curious. He was a voracious reader, informing his knowledge of political history and philosophical writings. Throughout school years, he was academically at ease. He had an uncanny ability to learn language, teaching himself some German and Dutch in elementary school. He would write long-form creative stories with friends.

As he grew, he became more reserved and practical to an extreme. His choices and behavior were purposeful. He experimented with a variety of hobbies, and sports - soccer, field hockey, lacrosse. He enjoyed being outside, on a hike, building forts in Laurel Park and taking nighttime walks. He was a caring friend to many.

Quiet and smart, he took up varied challenges and hobbies after carefully researching them. From becoming licensed as a ham radio operator, to taking glider and flying lessons at Northampton Airport (working towards a recreational pilot license), to testing his physical strength with Team Link Jujitsu classes – he challenged his mind and body in his own, determined way. He played the piano (and beautifully) for a period of time and it led to an appreciation of jazz and classical music. Recently he had begun enjoying and attending Springfield Symphony concerts.
