It's cold, it can be in complete darkness and weather conditions make it almost impossible to operate from. So how did Paul VK0PD / VK2PAD manage to successfully operate an amateur radio station from Casey Station in Antarctica? Paul shares his photos, experiences and life living and working down one of the most remote places on earth.

Thanks Hayden, great presentation, not sure I’d be up for the Ice Bath though.

I have been a ham for 64 years and some where in my past I ran some phone patches for Mermodo station close to the South Pole. I can't remember when it was I think it may have been the 1990s or some time after that. N0HWJ may have been in the 1980s as WA1ULQ. N0HWJ Don

    Where exactly is "Mermodo" station?

I would think that someone who ran phone patches to McMurdo Station would not only know how to spell it but also know where in Antarctica is.

Wow ! Well done Paul. I had a couple of QSO's with him on SSB Voice 20m / 40m and his station was getting pretty well here in Auckland. It's nice to watch his presentation.
