Ham radio operators can take an active role to help their country meet the UN Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. The UN determined that many people are unaware of their local geo-hazards. Lacking this awareness, they are unprepared when natural disasters strike.

HAM radio operators can help spread the word about a simple no cost/low cost, no tech/low tech was to teach people about their local geo-hazards. This program can be introduced to elementary school to college level students and readily connects to their classes without changing the curriculum. This is described in a free article https://vocal.media/wander/are-you-living-in-a-potential-disaster-zone

Please share the link with other HAM clubs, teachers, school and community leaders. This is an excellent way for HAMs to introduce HAM radio and emergency communications with students. We need to start recruiting and grooming the next generation of EmComm operators.
