    And (since this post disappeared yesterday I'll repost it) some people are assuming things (their bread must always fall butter side down when it falls) I will add that I worked with several fine engineers named Nguyen at TI, and noticed in recent years a lot of Nguyens working at the FCC, one who was quite helpful at the local office who helped us with a situation.

    I had also posted this quick excerpt from Wikipedia:

    Nguyễn is the most common Vietnamese family name. Outside of Vietnam, the surname is commonly rendered without diacritics as Nguyen. Vietnamese pronunciations between south and north are similar, except for the distinct tone between the two dialects.

    By some estimates forty percent of Vietnamese people bear this surname.

    A Vietnamese co-worker and I were casually chatting one day and he pipes up, "Hey, I bet you don't know what the English translation of Nguyen is". (His last name)

    Of course, I said no, I didn't.

    His reply: "Smith." :D
