The Fair Lawn Amateur Radio Club (FLARC) will help celebrate the 300th anniversary of one of Bergen County's (NJ) few remaining pre-revolutionary Dutch houses with a special event station at the historic farm and forge located on River Road in the borough.

The event commemorating the anniversary will be held on Saturday, May 4th from 9AM until 4PM. The house, which stands at Slooterdam, was originally granted to nine proprietors in 1687. Garretson, who purchased the property in 1719 and whose descendents owned it well into the early 20th century, built the older part of the house which is constructed of rubble and undressed stone. The property is now owned by the County of Bergen (NJ) and maintained by the Garretson Farm and Forge Restoration Inc. The house is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The club's special event call sign (W2G) is being used to commemorate the event . For radio amateurs, the expected frequencies are 14.245 14.045 7.245 and 7.045.

The event is free and open to the public. Local amateurs are encouraged to visit and join in.

The Fair Lawn Amateur Radio Club is one of the largest and most active clubs in New Jersey. It meets regularly every Friday at its clubhouse within the Fair Lawn Recreation Center, 10-10 20th Street in Fair Lawn and other evenings and weekends. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
